GAPAN CITY , Nueva Ecija – The relatives of Reynaldo De Guzman, the 14-yearold grade five student who was found floating at Kinamatayang Kabayo Creek, Sitio Gitna, Barangay San Roque here with 31 stab wounds, are crying out for justice.

The victim allegedly sought the help of her mother in her dream two weeks after he went missing.

“Nay, tulungan ninyo ako. Nahihirapan ako dito (Ma, help me. I am having difficulty here),” Lina de Guzman, the victim’s mother quoted her fourth son as telling her in her dream. “Para akong sinasakal dito (It’s like somebody was trying to strangle me),” she said.

In her dream, she said she found her boy, known to the family as “Kulot” for having curly hair, in a dark closed place. “Para daw po siyang binubugbog ng mga adik (It’s like he was being mauled by addicts),” she said.

Eduardo de Guzman, the victim’s father, said his son is innocent. “He was kind and helpful,” he added as the boy used to help with construction work and delivering fish.

“Mabiro lang madalas (He jokes a lot) but he was sweet and thoughtful, de Guzman said.

He could not bear the way his son met his death by sustaining 31 stab wounds based on initial forensic report. “Lalo na yung pinakamalaki sa may puson. Mga demonyo sila (Especially the biggest wound was in the abdomen. They are devils),” he said.

De Guzman said he also noticed some signs of burning at the back of his son.

Supt. Peter Madria, city police director, said they are still validating statements and evidences, including CCTV footages in areas leading to the creek where the victim was found.

They may provide clues on the vehicle which the residents heard late Monday night, Madria said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Emerson Pascual lamented the incident saying they have been successful in maintaining peace and order in the city since his assumption into office. “Ang Gapan po ay isa ngayon sa pinakatahimik ng lugar sa Nueva Ecija (Gapan is now the most peaceful city in Nueva Ecija),” the mayor said.

Pascual who himself lost two siblings in a raid on the family-owned cockpit arena a few years back said he cannot imagine how people can kill an innocent person as young as someone who is not yet circumcised.

Pascual, who is a member of the Victims Against Crime and Violence (VACC), said he will shoulder the funeral services of the victim.
