SAMAL, Bataan – How children wished they had face-to-face graduation instead of virtually as what was held at a public elementary school here Tuesday.
“Natutuwa po kami at nagtapos na po kami. Sana po mas higit ang aming kasiyahan kung face-to-face ang aming graduation na kasama namin ang aming mga magulang,” Grade VI–1 honor student Shiela Mae Lopez said.
Shiela was one of the graduating students of the Samal South Elementary School in Barangay Sta. Lucia. With other honor students in Grade VI-1, she watched their virtual graduation through the monitor of a laptop.
They placed their hands on their breast as the Lupang Hinirang was played on screen. They shouted as their photographs and those of their classmates were shown at the monitor one by one.
They cheered more loudly as their names and photos as honor students were called. Some even became teary-eyed although laughing.
They watched attentively as their school principal and the guest of honor congratulated them in pre-recorded messages.
As the monitor showed the video of the graduating students singing their graduation song, the children also sang.
