ANGELES CITY- A man who was arrested here for alleged kidnap and carnap attempt had already posted a P600,000 bail amid another case of suspected kidnapping of a businesswoman at the public market in Barangay Pampang here.

City police director Senior Supt. Eden Ugale confirmed that suspect Marlon Paras, 32, has been out on bail after he was arrested last March 25 for allegedly attempting  to kidnap the wife of a prominent physician whose car he also tried to cart away at the Nepo commercial center here.

The attempt was foiled by personnel from the Glocke Security Agency. The bail was allegedly paid for by the suspect’s grandmother based in the US. Ugale said Paras was already at large when the businesswoman, whose identity is being withheld for her safety, was also abducted by still unidentified persons at the public market in Barangay Pampang here at dawn on Saturday after Paras posted bail.

The woman was reportedly waiting at the Pampang market for her truck of vegetables to arrive from Baguio when the suspects forced her into their vehicle which then drove off to unknown destination. Ugale declined to give details on developments on the latest case, but admitted at the time of the interview that the victim had not yet surfaced.

He also declined to say whether the suspects have demanded ransom. He, however, said that Paras seemed to have nothing to do with the abduction of the businesswoman. “It seems that Paras was alone when he tried to abduct the wife of a doctor and steal her vehicle.

As a matter of fact, his wife and parents came immediately after he was arrested,” he noted. Three weeks before Paras was arrested, a physician was also kidnapped in Barangay Poblacion in neighboring Mabalacat City, which is within the so-called Metro Angeles area. The physician was released unharmed after a few days amid reports his family had paid a P5-million ransom.

“We don’t know if the incidents are related because the family of the case in Mabalacat had refused to give details,” Ugale said. However, the chief of the Glocke Security Agency which entrapped Paras last March 25 showed Punto a video showing that the suspect seemed to have had companions during his kidnap and carnap attempt.

The video showed a man on a motorcycle who apparently waited for Paras to get onto his vehicle after the stolen car he carted off stalled briefly. The motorcycle fled immediately after the suspect failed to alight from the car Security guards who foiled Paras also noted a green car which slowed down and which Paras tried to board after he
abandoned the stolen car and fled on foot.

It showed Paras trying to open the car’s passenger door but failed to do so as the vehicle sped off amid chasing security guards who by then were already joined by two policemen.
