BALANGA CITY — Slow moving vehicles taking the Roman Superhighway in Bataan are reminded to stay at the right-hand lane or suffer penalties after an ordinance was passed by the sangguniang panlalawigan and approved by the governor.

Motorists from the Layac Junction in the town of Dinalupihan to Mariveles and vice-versa are advised to be at the right–hand lane except to overtake or turning left to an intersection or avoiding a road obstruction.

The Metro Bataan Development Authority was tasked to implement the ordinance.

Violators will be charged fines of P500 for the first offence, P1,000 for the second offense, and P2,500 for the third offense.

The ordinance was authored by 3rd District board member Romano del Rosario with 1st District board member Tonyboy Roman as co-author.

Speed limits at the Roman Superhighway are 40 to 70 kilometers per hour for public vehicles, 60 to 80 KPH for private vehicles, 40 – 50 KPH for trucks and 40 – 60 KPH for motorcycles.

The superhighway that stretches from the Layac Junction in Dinalupihan to Mariveles passing Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga City, Pilar, Orion and Limay is currently undergoing widening from four lanes to six lanes.
