Two Kapampangans were recently recognized among the country’s 50 most notable architects during a prestigious Gala Night themed “Rooted in Legacy, Branching to the Future,” celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP).

Architect Kym Jaffna Pineda and his mentor, the esteemed Architect Melencio Manalo, were honored for their outstanding contributions to Philippine architecture, contributing to the art form that continues to define and uplift the nation’s identity, culture, and aspirations.

Pineda paid tribute to Manalo, saying, “Ar. Manalo has inspired me through his timeless and tangible architectural design, and to be a man of integrity, passion, and a commitment to serving our profession.” Both architects stood out not only for their exceptional designs but also for their embodiment of the ideals celebrated that evening—visionary thinking, dedication to sustainability, service to society, and a deep-rooted respect for legacy.

This year’s list of 50 Notable Architects honors individuals and architectural firms who have played significant roles in nation-building through their work.

They have created world-class, headline-worthy designs; pushed advocacies for sustainability and environmental stewardship; and have become respected figures in society and role models for future generations of architects.

As the UAP celebrates five decades of excellence, the recognition of architects like Pineda and Manalo underscores a commitment to innovation, cultural pride, and building a future rooted in purpose and legacy.
