CABANATUAN CITY – Government and mall officials are singing to same tune: Novo Ecijanos can weather the pandemic and find Christmas as still “the most wonderful time of the year.”
Nueva Ecija 3rd District board member Jojo Matias said Christmas will always be special because of the joy it brings from bonuses, reconciliation of “warring parties” to gathering of family members, friends and relatives.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year kasi yung mga at war ay nagbabati sila during Christmas time,” he said, noting that even some nations practice ceasefire during the season.
“Of course, we thank SM for bringing together these people for this wonderful time of the year,” Matias said.
Matias led on Sunday the SM Megacenter Christmas launch that featured reindeer delivering toys and gifts to children.
SM Megacenter assistant mall manager Carol Licup said their Christmas centerpiece symbolizes strength, unity, and happiness to everyone.
“Santa chose reindeer to pull his sleigh while the harmonic sound of trumpets reminds everyone to be jolly and bright despite uncertainties this holiday season,” she noted.
“It symbolizes gifts for the children. It symbolizes hope na kahit sa panahon ng pandemic ay mayroong pag-asa na sana ay malampasan ng bawat Filipino, ng bawat pamilyang Filipino, yung nararanasan nating paghihirap sa ngayon,” Licup said.
Aside from Matias, other personalities who joined the event were Cabanatuan City councilor Junnie Del Rosario, NE-IATF spokesperson Fr. Arnold Abelardo, DTI provincial director Brigida Pili, and Rotary Club of Cabanatuan East president Cesar Cipriano.
