Angeles City — In a striking departure from the often divisive landscape of local politics, Congressman Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II is being hailed as a unifying factor in his bid for mayor of Angeles City. Recent barangay visits have displayed an unprecedented show of support from political village rivals, showing Lazatin’s ability to bridge divides and promote alliance.

During his visit to Barangay Amsic, a notable scene unfolded as Barangay Chairman Gerom Costales and former Chairman Totoy Bibo Rogando walked side-by-side with Lazatin. Their camaraderie was emblematic of the broader political trend emerging from Lazatin’s campaign, which has seen former adversaries coming together in support of his vision for the city.

In Barangay Cutud, the atmosphere was similarly unifying, with current Brgy. Captain Jessie Masbang joining forces with former leaders Bobot Masbang and Bong Ferraris, all of whom accompanied Lazatin on his tour. This display of unity among competing political figures is a rarity in local elections, garnering admiration from the Angeleños.

Lazatin’s momentum in uniting various factions extended to Barangay Pandan, where he successfully brought together opposing figures, including Kapitan Cors Alejandrino and Kagawad Benny Villavicencio. Notably, his outreach efforts also encompassed the diverse communities of Jaoville, bringing together Muslims and Christians in a shared vision for the future of Angeles City.

Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting noted, “It’s a rare feat to see a leader uniting opposing figures in support of his bid. That says a lot about mayorable Jon Lazatin. People love and respect him.” The sentiment has been echoed by many residents who have witnessed Lazatin’s genuine efforts to connect with constituents across various backgrounds and political affiliations.

As the campaign intensifies, Lazatin’s approach stands in contrast to the typical political maneuvering often seen in local elections. His ability to strengthen cooperation among political foes is not only refreshing but is also positioning him as a frontrunner in the upcoming mayoral race.

With each barangay visit, Lazatin solidifies his reputation as a leader who prioritizes his kabalens over conflict, making him a compelling candidate for the mayoralty of Angeles City.
