BACOLOR, Pampanga- A trusted adviser of this town’s Mayor Jose Maria “Jomar” Hizon was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men early morning Sunday in Barangay San Isidro here.
Chief Inspector Dan Gallano, Bacolor police chief, identified the victim as Danny Mar Danganan, 48, a former municipal and barangay councilor who had served as one of Hizon’s most trusted aides.
Gallano said Dangangan visited his eatery at the public market here and was already in front of his home in San Isidro when the two suspects on board a motorcycle sidled up to him and peppered him with bullets at about 8 a.m. last Sunday.
Danganan sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body and died on the spot. He was the fourth of Hizon’s associates to be killed since last year when three of his political leaders were also shot to death while on their way home at the Madapdap resettlement in Mabalacat City shortly before the barangay elections.
The resettlement is home to Bacolor folk displaced by Mt. Pinatubo’s lahar. Hizon said he has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Camp Crame in investigating the killing of Danganan.
Gallano said probers found seven spent bullet shells for .45 pistol at the crime scene. “A special investigation team as been created to look into this case,” he added. He said that as of yesterday, probers had no information on the identities of the killers.
