CABANATUAN CITY – Over P800,000 of incentives have been paid by the Division III of the Upper Pampanga Rover Integrated Irrigation System (UPRIIS) to 145 farmers organizations who helped in maintaining canals, a ranking irrigation official said Monday.
Engr. Jose Ariel Domingo, division manager, said the irrigators’ associations (IAs) were in charge of cleaning up sub-lateral canals to ensure the smooth flow of water to rice fields.
“Ang kabayaran ay depende sa lawak ng kanilang ginagawa,” Domingo said, adding that the incentives covered the last wet season.
Meanwhile, to ensure that health protocols were properly observed NIA-UPRIIS Division III personnel distributed the remuneration on different dates and locations.
“IAs under each zone were instructed to go to the zone quarters at a specific scheduled time on June 18, 24,and 25 to claim their respective remuneration checks,” another irrigation official said.
During the distribution, social distancing, temperature check and disinfection were also made before letting the claimants inside the quarters.
