ANGELES CITY – The International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management (ISCAHM) has opened a new school at the former Batis Asul restaurant along the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sto. Domingo here.

During the grand opening last Friday, ISCAHM Chairman Hans Schallenberg said the “textured culinary landscape of Pampanga’s cooking culture” is the reason why they opened a school here.

The Pampanga branch is the third ISCAHM to open in the Philippines with the first in Katipunan, Quezon City and another school in Cebu. Schallenberg said “students will experience training founded on international five-star hospitality standard” under the tutelage of professional culinary artists as well as hospitality professionals.

He added that students will also learn the latest industry techniques and trends in a friendly  and familiar environment which is a more favorable alternative to getting a degree in a costly overseas school. After obtaining their degree, students will get their ISCAHM diploma and the coveted Australian Certificate III in Culinary Arts and Australian Certificate III in Patisserie from the Culinary Solutions Australian International.

The said certificates will help ISCAHM graduates gain better opportunities for employment in 5, 6, or even 7 star hotels and restaurants in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK and other trade partners and members of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Chef Norbert Gandler led a tour of the school facilities and showed three kitchens equipped with the latest culinary technology with each costing P6 million or more. The school is offering three class of courses with the short threemonth course worth P20,000, the basic sixmonth course worth P70,000 and the full course of one year with the Australian certificate worth P295,000.

Chefs Kenneth Lee O. Cacho and Manoj Da Silva will head ISCAHM Pampanga which is also offering catering services for birthday parties and weddings.

But Gandler clarified that they are not using students in their catering services. ISCAHM is a world class training center where dedication and close ties to the hospitality industry are the hallmarks of teaching and learning.
