BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Religious groups here held an inter-faith prayer rally on Monday as a sign of continuous opposition against the planned revival of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant in Napot Pt., Morong town.

A Catholic priest, a Methodist Pastor and a Catholic nun delivered their message to stop all attempts to restore the mothballed BNPP while urging all sectors of the society to unite.

An Aglipayan priest and representatives of other religious groups recited prayers asking that success be granted in their unified action “in the name of truth, justice and pece.”

The activity held in front of the St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City was initiated by the Network Opposed to Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (NO BNPP) and other non-governmental organizations.

Last Saturday, about 3,000 people joined the caravan from Layac in Dinalupihan to the towns of Hermosa, Orani, Samal and Abucay in commemoration of the successful Welgang Bayan on June 20, 1985.

Later in the afternoon, the rallyists marched from Abucay to Barangay Tuyo in Balanga and then to the city proper where a program was held at a makeshift stage on the middle of a street in the commercial district.
