Samal, Bataan: Babies, aged 12 months and below, underwent their scheduled vaccinations at the Barangay Health Center in Barangay Sta. Lucia here Wednesday.
The infants depending on their ages received their vaccines from Barangay Midwife Lolita Poblete with the assistance of Barangay Health Workers (BHW) headed by Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Karl Poblete.
The activity started with the listing and weighing of the infants who later received required doses of different vaccines and vitamins.
Midwife Lolita said vaccination starts on the birth of the baby whose parents are advised to follow vaccination schedules until the baby reaches one year old.
To a 9 – month old baby, she administered Measles Rubella Vaccine, Inactivated Polio Vaccine and Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine against pneumonia.
Poblete said vaccinations and vitamins are free, courtesy of the Department of Health.
Poblete said they hand out Vitamin A and medicines for fever like paracetamol drops and paracetamol 250.
“Itong routine vaccination every Wednesday namin ginagawa tapos ang vitamin A is April and October kaya last day na ng pagbibigay ng vitamin A sa lahat ng sitio ng Sta. Lucia. Halos lahat ay nabigyan na ng ating mga BHW sa pangunguna ni BNS Karl Pobete. Libre lahat, walang bayad,” Midwife Poblete said. (30)
