PEOPLE HAVE been questioning me why I decided to become a teacher since I started schooling myself about the profession. I have so many reasons as to why but most importantly because I believe that I can be a good teacher.
Sometimes, you will never really know how to do a certain task until you finally work on it. I learned this when I finally became a teacher. I may have learned different strategies in teaching, but I realized that in a real classroom, I have to adjust. I need to do so to be able for me to determine the best learning strategy that will suit the needs of my students. I also realized that I would surely face many challenges along the way, but I am one determined teacher who is very willing to learn and is devoted to the tasks I am required to do.
As what most mathematics teachers want, I also aim to make my students love Mathematics. The best technique I have in mind to achieve this is to also give my very best in making my classroom the best venue and each of my math lessons the best tool for students to learn not just the numbers or equations, but more importantly, their applications. They must be relevant to my students’ lives to stir up their desires for learning. What motivate me the most are students who dislike Math. These students push me to be a better teacher by discovering new approaches of teaching the subject.
Only in my six years of teaching, I know that I still have a very long way to go. I still have to learn more to be called the best teacher a student could ever have, and I am not that so sure I am there yet.
