House okays 3rd district for Bataan

ITY — The House of Representatives has approved the bill creating a third legislative district in Bataan.

2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III on Thursday said that House Bill 8664 or the reapportionment of the province into three legislative districts was approved on third reading and already for transmission to the Senate.

Kapag naisabatas ang pagdaragdag ng third district, magiging automatic ang additional funding allocation sa ikatlong distrito para sa mga ayuda na ibinibigay ng pamahaaan lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemiya tulad ng Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers at Government Internship Program ng Department of Labor and Employment para sa mga nais magtrabaho,” he said.

“Ganoon din ang Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations ng Department of Social Welfare and Development at Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients ng Department of Health para sa financial/medical assistance at Local Government Support Fund ng Department of the Interior and Local Government para sa local government unit subsidy,” Garcia added.

The solon noted that the province is eligible for the additional district having a present population of 850,000 compared to 500,000 in 1987.

With a third district, Garcia said fund allocation for various project in Bataan from national government agencies will increase like in the construction of new school buildings, upgrading of health centers and hospitals, completion of farm-to-market roads and irrigation systems.

“Kabilang din dito ang pagsasaayos ng road network, flood control at community center buildings at iba pang mga proyekto na magbibigay din ng dagdag trabaho para sa ating mga kababayan. Inaasahan natin na magkakaroon ang mga ahensiyang ito ng panibagong national permanent/contractual job items sa ating probinsya para sa mga guro, nars, doktor, pulis, engineer, administrative staff, atbp,” he said.

The bill provides that the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Morong remain under the first district. Under the second district are Balanga City, Orion and Pilar while Bagac, Limay and Mariveles belong to the third district.
