MABALACAT, Pampanga – “This is a phenomenom. I haven’t seen one quite like this in the whole country.”
Thus said Oriental Mindoro Rep. Rodolfo Valencia as he toured the P6-billion Xevera housing project in Barangay Tabun here over the weekend.
Valencia, chairman of the House of Representatives committee on housing and urban development, was accompanied by Xevera-Mabalacat developer Delfin Lee of Globe Asiatique, Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, veteran journalist Sonny Lopez and Pag-Ibig Fund Senior Vice President Florentino Espana Jr. during the inspection of the housing project set to be launched via the ABS-CBN’s television show ASAP on January 25.
“This (Xevera) should be imitated by other developers,” said Valencia, who himself is in the real estate business.
Valencia said he had filed a House Bill which called for the creation of “one million houses for the Filipinos.” He added that he appreciated the efforts of Lee to help them generate 11,000 “beautiful yet affordable” houses in Pampanga in “just two years.”
Xevera-Mabalacat will have 7,000 houses, while Xevera-Bacolor has 4,000 units.
“It’s not just the houses that make this place click. Xevera makes people happy with its complete amenities,” he said.
Inspired by European architecture, Xevera-Mabalacat sits on a 62-hectare lot overlooking the mountains in nearby Tarlac province. It will have an access road directly linking it to Clark.
“It boasts of quality amenities such as school, church, town hall, wet and dry market, clubhouse, commercial area and amusement park,” said its developers in a statement.
Lee, for his part, urged Valencia to help “make Pag-Ibig membership easier to the public.” The two Xevera projects are available through the government’s Pag-Ibig loans.
Lee disclosed that some of the first batch of residents will move in at Xevera-Mabalacat by the end of January.
Morales, expressed grati-tude to Valencia for “knowing the essence and contribution of the housing project to the province and the entire country as well.”
He said Xevera “is an offshoot” of the flagship projects of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Pampanga and Clark Freeport.
“The SCTEx highway and airport in Clark are the reasons behind these great housing projects,” said Morales.
