BALANGA CITY – 2nd District Rep. Albert Garcia of Bataan on Thursday announced that two House bills he filed that will bring additional benefits to the province have been approved by the respective committees in the lower chamber.
Passing the committee level were HB 6676 or “An Act Mandating the Full conversion and Maintenance of the Roman Superhighway in Bataan as an All Weather Road” and HB 5600 or “An Act Increasing the Bed Capacity of the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) in Balanga City.”
HB 6676 was approved by the House Committee on Public Works while HB 5600 by the Committee on Health. The two bills will then be endorsed by the Committee on Appropriations.
The bill that seeks full conversion and maintenance of the Roman Superhighway, Garcia said, aims to prepare Bataan for the expected faster economic development with the approved construction of the Bataan – Cavite Interlink Bridge.
The 32-kilometer bridge will be connecting Regions IV-A and III through Manila Bay.
Widening of the four-lane Roman Superhighway into six lanes that stretches from Layac Junction in Dinalupihan, Bataan to Mariveles is ongoing.
The bill on the BGHMC will increase its 500-bed capacity to 1,000 beds and will upgrade its services to include operation of a cancer center with the necessary funds to better support the healthcare needs in Bataan.
Garcia thanked his sister, 3rd District Rep. Maria Angela Garcia, for her support in sponsoring the bills that led to the approval by the respective committees.
“You can hope that we will continue to advance the bills for the betterment of our district, and our province,” he said.
