BALANGA City – Bishop Ruperto C. Santos of the Diocese of Balanga on Sunday night announced that Pope Francis will be using three popemobiles in his visit to the Philippines from January 15 to 19, 2015.
The Bataan prelate is chairman of the Catholic Bish-op Conference of the Philippines’ Committee on Transportation on the Papal Visit. “The popemobiles are according to specifications of the Vatican, visible for all and accessible for the Holy Father to go down and meet our people.
These are simple which define the nature of his holiness, simplicity and availability to all people, especially the simple and ordinary,” Santos said. One is to be used on January 15 to welcome Pope Francis from Villamor Air Base. It will also be used when the Pope goes to Malacanang,
Manila Cathedral and the SM Mall of Asia Arena the following day, January 16. In Tacloban City on January 17, Pope Francis ill ride a KIA World Youth Day popemobile.
A jeepney popemobile will be used on January 18 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, Santos said. “We are much preparing for everything, very prayerful for this grace-filled event. The Holy Father is blessing our country with God’s mercy and compassion,” the Bataan bishop said.
