Minalin, Pampanga – Holcim Philippines, Inc., Universal Robina Corporation, and the Municipality of Minalin, Pampanga, have officially signed a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to advance sustainable waste management practices through co-processing technology.
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to environmental sustainability, waste reduction, and compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022. Under the Memorandum of Agreement, Holcim Philippines Inc. (HPI), in partnership with LGU Minalin and Universal Robina Corporation (URC), commits to co-processing up to 1,000 tons of sorted, non-hazardous, non-recyclable municipal plastic waste annually.
Holcim Philippines will treat the collected waste materials in line with environmental standards and offer support and training to involved personnel. The local government of Minalin will oversee proper waste handling, ensure safety, and assist with documentation and incentives. Meanwhile, URC will implement social responsibility initiatives and provide support to waste workers through various forms of incentives.
This initiative serves as a model for public-private partnerships in advancing environmental sustainability and compliance with national waste management policies. LGU Minalin recognizes this as a major step in achieving a cleaner and greener community.
