HERMOSA, Bataan- The Hermosa Industrial Park on Thursday distributed relief goods to flood-stricken residents in Hermosa and Dinalupihan towns in Bataan.
“Pandagdag lang ‘yan sa mga relief goods na natanggap na ninyo sa iba,” former Bases Conversion Development Authority Chairman Felicito Payumo told residents of Palihan in Hermosa and Luakan in Dinalupihan.
Residents were teary-eyed as they milled around the former BCDA chairman and some officials of the ecozone.
“Maraming salamat po,” they said.
Payumo helped build the industrial park in a 500-hectare rolling lands in Palihan, Hermosa. “Nagsisimula pa lamang ito eh may 3,000 trabahador na at inaasahang darami pa dahil may mga investor pang parating,” he said.
Palihan village head Ricardo dela Cruz thanked Payumo and industrial park officials for the relief goods.
He said his barangay is surrounded by three rivers and creeks and prone to flooding especially during the high tide.
“Kaya lang handa na kami ngayon hindi tulad noong isang taon na nasorpresa kami,” the barangay captain said.
During the onslaught of the monsoon rains in 2012, Palihan was not passable to all kinds of vehicles. Palihan is the entry point in Bataan to the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway.
“Basang-basa ang aming mga gamit noong isang taon pero ngayon nakahanda na kami kaya itinaas namin agad ang mga gamit namin at agad nag-evacuate ang mga tao sa es
