MARIVELES, Bataan — The local government here on Tuesday spelled out plans it will give more focus on in 2023, aside from continuing unfinished programs in the past year.
Mayor Ace Jelo Concepcion identified health, social servicing, and infrastructures as among his priority concerns for the new year with full cooperation from the sangguniang bayan.
The mayor considered the past year as very productive for the municipality with the good working relation, he said, between the SB chaired by Vice Mayor Lito Rubia and his administration.
The new year for the town started with a boost with the signing of a memorandum of agreement Tuesday for the operation of a health facility in Barangay Biaan, a village of more than 300 Aetas.
Built by the San Miguel Corp., the health facility will benefit not only indigenous peoples but other residents of the upland barangay and surrounding villages.
Concepcion said that the municipality has also entered into a MOA with Barangay Batangas Dos, placing an ambulance under the control of the LGU for quicker disaster and rescue response not only in the village but in the whole vicinity.
Barangay Alas-asin, the mayor said, has also consented to the use of one of its buildings for rescue medics for transfer from an unsafe building in Barangay Cabcaben.
For senior citizens, Concepcion promised an improved health system and more benefits.
Building of more infrastructures, necessarily not only roads the mayor believes, is a magnet to tourism and investments. It will be one of his targets for this year.
Concepcion wanted infrastructures in Mariveles to be ready with the completion of the multi-billion-peso Bataan-Cavite Interlink bridge.
“Marami tayong mga plano at pangarap pati mga ginagawa at gagawin para sa ating bayan, pero ang ultimate goal natin ay mapaganda at mapatatag ang ating mga pamilya. At simula sa araw na ito, ang lahat ng ating gagawin ay para sa ikauunlad at ikagaganda ng buhay ng bawat pamilyang Mariveleno,” the mayor concluded.
Mariveles is home to the Freeport Area of Bataan which has about 100 companies in operation with thousands of workers.
