SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – The president of a group of the elderly in a village here was gunned down by unidentified gunmen about 8 p.m. Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Domingo dela Peña, 69, married, head of the association of senior citizens of Sitio Pantoc Hacienda, Barangay San Francisco.
Investigation disclosed that the victim went out of his house when the suspects, wearing face masks and shirt with “barangay police logo” asked for him.
“When the victim came out, one of the suspects shot him repeatedly for unknown reason,” a report to the provincial police office in Cabanatuan City showed.
The suspect even poked a gun at the victim’s wife who pleaded for mercy, investigation further showed.
The suspects fled on board a motorcycle towards Barangay Lambakin, Jaen, according to the police.
Investigation is ongoing for possible arrest of the suspects, police added.
