JAEN, Nueva Ecija – Police netted a total of P837,000 worth of metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and a pistol in successive operations here Jan. 29 night.

Col. Ferdinand Germino, Nueva Ecija police director, said at least 115 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P780,000 was seized by police personnel from a 53-year-old jobless man in a Comelec checkpoint in Barangay Dampulan here at around 7:55 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect who also yielded a .45 pistol is a resident of Barangay Mambangnan in nearby town of San Leonardo, Germino said.

Investigation showed the suspect was riding a motorcycle when flagged down by lawmen manning the checkpoint. The authorities reportedly saw in plain view the handle of the pistol when they asked for the bike’s documents.

This led to the suspect’s arrest that also resulted to the discovery of illegal drugs in his possession.

The suspect faces charges for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and the Omnibus Election Code.

About an hour earlier, the station’s anti-drugs personnel recovered 8.5 grams of shabu with estimated value of P57,800 from three suspected pushers in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sapang here, Germino added.

The suspects who are now in custody of the municipal police are facing charges of violating RA 9165.
