Guiao, who is the first congressman nto open a district office in this bucolic town, said this signifies his commitment to bring basic services closer to Magaleños.
On the first floor of the district office is the town’s dialysis center which mostly caters to indigent patients and some 30 regular patients. Guiao said his wife Jennifer helped establish the center run by Dr. Romulo Ignacio.
Guiao clarified that the district office is not a bank nor an ATM machine referring to some of those seek assistance who just ask for money. The solon said the district office will be convenient for Magaleños who genuinely need assistance since they do not need to go to his district office in Angeles City anymore.
Guiao said processing time for those who seek assistance now is longer unlike before where there is little accounting and auditing because of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or “pork barrel” allocation.
But now that the PDAF is suspended, a lot of paper work needs to be done which contributes to longer processing time, he said.
The district office (run by his wife Jennifer) will help facilitate the process and the paper work especially for senior citizens or fulfil the inadequacies of those who seek assistance, he added.
In attendance was Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda who vowed to release funds for the improvement of the town’s police station building.
