MAGALANG, Pampanga – Sixteen hospital beds – “the first of more medical equipment and supplies to come” – were donated Friday by Vice Gov. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao to the Dr. Andres Luciano District Hospital (DALDH) here.
“This is to complement the efforts of Nanay (Gov. Lilia G. Pineda) to upgrade the equipment and thereby improve the services the district hospitals render to our constitunts, most especially the indigents,” said Guiao as he handed over a deed of donation for the beds to Dr. Danilo Naguit, DALDH director.
The beds, with Japanese markings on them, came from the pooling of resources of private individuals and personal friends, said Guiao who just smiled when asked how much the beds cost.
“Teamwork is the operative word here,” Guiao said, stressing that the “active participation of the private sector is indicative of its confidence in the leadership of Gov. Pineda and her team at the Capitol.”
Guiao said the DALDH is “just the first” of the hospitals to receive donations coursed through him.
“The Mabalacat District Hospital will have its turn soon,” Guiao promised.
It is not only hospitals that will be the recipient of donations, Guiao said. “Schools will also be helped through the donation of desks, chairs, and other educational equipment and tools.”
A third-termer vice-governor, Guiao has opened himself to running for the first congressional district seat in 2013 against incumbent Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.
