GUAGUA, Pampanga – A mass disinfection was conducted Friday at the town’s public market as it remained on extended lockdown after a market vendor died of Covid-19.
Personnel from the provincial manpower and training center and general services office undertook the disinfection with the supervision of 2nd District board member Anthony Joseph Torres and GSO chief Francis Maslog.
“Ang ginagawa natin ay isa sa mga hakbang ni Gov. Delta, Vice-Gov Nanay, at ng sangguniang panlalawigan para masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga tao sa bayan at mawala ang pangamba ng bawa’t isa,” Torres said of the disinfection.
Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda personally inspected the area along with Mayor Dante Torres while the disinfection was ongoing to take stock of the situation, reportedly in preparation for instituting stricter measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the market.
Torres initially ordered the market locked down along with the barangay it is situated in for three days last Monday after six vendors and workers there tested positive for Covid-19.
The lockdown was extended after a 40-year-old woman vendor of pork and chicken died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. Luisse Rutao/Pampanga PIO
