City Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III said the renovation of the 4,000-square meter plaza budgeted for P10 million is expected to be finished before the end of September this year in time for the holding of the first International Bird Festival to be held in the city from October 9 -10, 2009.
The redevelopment of the plaza will be patterned after one in Salamanca, Spain. The mayor said it will feature a story arch where important places to go in Balanga will be shown, a walk of fame, perhaps, similar to one in Holywood, USA and to be lined with palm trees.
Benches will be over the place where promenaders can sit and relax while waiting for the sunset and the coming of the night. It will have a movable stage where stage plays will be held at least once a week.
