JAEN, Nueva Ecija — An 18-year-old student was killed in an alleged fraternity hazing in Barangay San Anton here Sunday night.

Police identified the victim as Ren Joseph Bayan, Grade 11 student, from Barangay San Pablo also here.

Jennifer Bayan, 28, the victim’s aunt, told Jaen police investigators that her nephew had informed her earlier on Sunday that he was “undergoing the final hazing” reportedly for Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity.

Subsequently, at about 5 p.m. two neighbors who supposedly belong to the said fraternity, Baron Cabado and Patrick Guinto, both of legal age, brought the victim’s lifeless body to the Bayan residence.

They were considered as suspects, based on a police report.

“Sabi pa po nila ay dinala sa duktor pero ipinagtanong namin sa duktor hindi naman,” Bayan said in an interview.

“Sobrang bugbog po ng hita niya, nagkaroon na po ng mga kumplikasyon sa bato, sa puso, yun po ang ikinamatay ng bata,” Bayan said quoting an official’s explanation of the autopsy examination.

Major Herbert Ocumen, municipal police chief, said in his report that a hot pursuit operation is being conducted for possible apprehension of the suspects.
