Gov’t worker, kid killed in road mishaps in Ecija

    CABANATUAN CITY – A four-year-old boy and a government employee here were killed while four others were hurt in separate accidents involving motorcycles in Nueva Ecija over the weekend.

    The victims were identified as Alvin Verdillo of Barangay Agbannawag, Rizal and Mark Edward Obedoza, 30, of Barangay Fatima, Pantabangan, both of Nueva Ecija.

    PO2 Eric Eric Martin, investigator, said that Verdillo was on board a tricycle with plate no. IS 8832 along with his mother Alminda, 37, and relatives Victorino Vendillo Jr., three months old, Tessy Mantile, 52; and Andrei Roncal, 7, when the vehicle accidentally run over a stone in Barangay Calaaocan, Rizal town.

    The driver, Arsenio Mantile, lost control of the tricycle and consequently throwing other victims out of the sidecar.

    They were rushed to Dra. Rafael Clinoc but the toddler was pronounced dead on arrival, Martin said.

    In Pantabangan, Obedoza was driving a single motorcycle when it collided with an Izusu Elf driven by a certain Vigilio Tapang, 29, of Barangay Pamaldan here at about 5:00 p.m., in Sitio Aya, West Poblacion.

    PO2 Ronald Buncad said Obedoza sustained “tremendous injuries,” and was brought to a hospital in San Jose City was but declared dead on arrival.
