PEÑARANDA, Nueva Ecija – Police seized P1.8-million worth of shabu from a government employee in a buy–bust operation in Barangay Poblacion IV here Sunday night.
Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saroidentified the suspect as Larry Torres, 46, resident of the said village and a government employee. To what government agency he is connected or his position has not been disclosed.
Saro said operatives from the provincial drug enforcement and intelligence units led by Lt. Dennis Leonardo, along with the municipal police station headed by Capt. Williard Dulnuan, conducted the buy–bust upon confirming the suspect’s alleged illegal activities.
Operatives recovered from the suspect 265 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1.8-million, police said.
The recovered items included two pieces of knottedplastic packs and 18 sachets, investigation showed.
Police also recovered a weighing scale, sling bag, and the six P500 marked bills.
“The operations against peddlers of illegal drugs will continuously be implemented in the entire province of Nueva Ecija,” Saro said, in line with the order of Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon invigorating efforts to wipe out all forms of illegal drugs in the region.
Charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act were filed against Torres.
