BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Gov. Enrique “Tet” Garcia on Friday announced that his driver, Efren Pascual, died at 10 p.m. of Thursday at the James Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City.

Pascual was survived by his wife and five children. Garcia said his driver became the 40th victim of “Pedring” in the country.

“Let us all pray for the eternal repose of his soul,” the governor said.

Garcia and Pascual were travelling at the Roman Superhighway in Balanga City at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday last week when a 50-year old Acacia tree fell on their E-150 Ford van. The vehicle was heavily damaged especially the roof portion where the driver was seated.

Garcia made rounds of inspection in the Second District and was bound for the First District to assess the damage of typhoon Pedring when the accident happened. The governor was unscathed.
