CLARK FREEPORT – A province-wide forum on disaster management and preparedness as well as other pressing concerns was conducted at the Mimosa Convention Center here yesterday presided over by Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda and attended by about 500 village chiefs, provincial board members and mayors .
Pineda stressed the need to be prepared in times of disaster by ensuring the facilities, equipment as well as manpower training in rescue and emergency situations.
Pineda also assured barangay captains of brand new service vehicles that can be used in disaster management and preparedness.
Among those who briefed the attendees were Commission on Elections provincial election supervisor Atty. Lydia Pangilinan who discussed the upcoming barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections.
Commission on Audit’s Teresita M. Gequinto spoke on the need for barangay captains to come up with their financial statements before the scheduled October elections.
The others were Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council chief Angie Blanco, Department of Interior and Local Government provincial director Myrvie Favia, PNP provincial director Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde, PhilHealth director Arsenia Torres, provincial solid waste management head Jayson Sambat, Public Works and Highways Engr. Rico Guilas, Department of Agriculture director Andrew Villacorta, Department of Education’s Dr. Malcolm Garma, Provincial Engineering Office head Engr. Noli Pangan and sangguniang panlalawigan Committee on Appropriations chair Board Member Cris Garbo.
