    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “They are not just pride of the premiere college in Bacolor but of Pampanga.”

    Thus said Gov. Lilia Pineda as she lauded the Most Outstanding Alumni of The Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU).

    In statements released by the Provincial Information Office (PIO) on Tuesday, Pineda said the seven outstanding DHVTSU alumni, including Third District Board Member Monz Laus, helped “make the province a better place full of development.”

    Laus was given the award in the field of Women Empowerment for her various women development programs as a board member and officer of different cause-oriented groups like Quota International Pampanga, Rotary Club of Central Pampanga and the Centro Catolico de Bacolor.

    The first-term board member is the chairman of the provincial board committee on health. Pineda’s priority program is on health.

    “Aside from helping the governor in her daily task and performing her public duty, Monz Laus sees to it that she has time for her children,” said Second District Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon. Laus was the wife of the late board member and city councilor Pinong Laus.

    For her part, Laus said “everything I have now came from my late husband who taught me that I should serve the people with all humility.”

    “I am humbled by this award,” she added.

    Betis Craft matriarch Myrna Bituin of Guagua was also on this year’s list of DHVTSU Most Outstanding Alumni.
    Joining Laus and Bituin are: Lourdes Javier (Corporate Social Responsibility); Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao (Leadership Empowerment in Education);

    Eduardo G. Datu (Public Service); Alvaro M. Jimenez (Arts and Culture); Domingo P. Nacpil (Poverty Alleviation and Human Development); Arch. Rene B. Nuqui (Science and Technology); and Engr. Ferdinand P. Labung (Science and Technology).

    The awardees pledged to help other graduates of the state university and its programs under the administration of DHVTSU President Enrique Baking.
