ARAYAT, Pampanga – Gov. Lilia G. Pineda distributed much-needed relief goods to hundreds of families in barangay San Juan Baño here who were mostly victims of landslide caused by typhoon Ondoy.
Pineda first visited the village on July 14 and vowed to return on Monday bringing with her the “much needed relief goods” for the local folk affected by Ondoy in September last year.
“The governor was true to her promise,” says one of the victims.
Some 270 families severely affected by the landslide still live in their makeshift shelters.
Pineda has also asked the provincial engineer’s office led by Engr. Armando Austria to speed up the building of temporary shelters at the proposed relocation site for the landslide victims.
Provincial board members Monz Laus, Trina Dizon, Cris Garbo, Raul Macalino and Joel Simpauco, municipal and barangay officials joined Pineda in the distributing packs of relief goods.
Almost a thousand individuals in the village thanked the governor for the help she extended. The victims have been living in makeshift shelters for months now.
Pineda said that with the onset of rainy season, “I am very much worried that their exposure to the bad weather would adversely affect their health condition, especially the children.”
The governor also urged vice-mayors of various towns and cities in the province to prioritize programs on health and social services for their respective constituents.
“Let’s make the delivery of effective health services to our municipalities as one of our priorities,” the governor told municipal officials recently.
