‘Go4Health’ launched

    BALANGA CITY – Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag of the Department of Health on Friday led in the launching at the Plaza Mayor here of  “Go4Health”” and “Smoke-Free Bataan.”

    “Babalik-balikan namin kayo until everyone is ‘Go4Health in Balanga’,” Tayag said.

    Tayag explained the movement has four advocacies – Go Sustansiya, Go Sigla, Go Slow sa Tagay and Go Smoke-Free – aimed at achieving a healthy lifestyle.

    “This calls for a personal commitment to physical activity, proper nutrition, stoppage of smoking and moderation in alcohol consumption,” he added.

    He then led in the release of four balloons that represented the four advocacies.

    Tayag said Balanga City has succeeded in its campaign against smoking, having received Red Orchid awards from DOH for three consecutive years.

    DOH Asec Paulyn Rose presented to City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III the Hall of Fame award and check for P500,000.

    Tayag in jest told provincial officials to follow the feat of Balanga in the no-smoking drive.  The provincial government under Gov. Albert Garcia has just approved a comprehensive smoke-free Bataan ordinance.

    The new governor urged the public to stay away from smoking to create a tobacco-free province.

    Dr. Florante Trinidad of the World Health Organization lauded the feat of Balanga and the new ordinance of the Bataan Capitol in making the province smoke-free.

    After the launching of the two programs, Tayag tirelessly led the big crowd in green, blue, red and orange T-shirts in synchronized aerobic dances.
