MARIVELES, Bataan — GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) donated to the municipal and provincial governments 2,190 relief food packs worth more than P1 million.
The donation was made in support of the declaration of a state of calamity in Bataan by the sangguniang Panlalawigan and Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd after the 11 towns and one city were hit by Supertyphoon Egay and habagat.
Corporate social responsibility teams and employee-volunteers of GNPD and GMEC in partnership with the LGUs distributed the relief assistance to affected residents of Mariveles and later handed another set of relief goods to fisherfolk in Morong town.
GNPD and GMEC said Thursday, August 3, that their donation was in adherence to the companies’ CSR P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S. road map. Meaning P – protect marine life, R – reforest land, O – optimize wealth from waste, G – generate livelihood skills and income, R – rehabilitate social infrastructure, E – elevate educational opportunities, S – safeguard quality health access, and S – strengthen disaster resiliency.
The coal-fired power plants said that the last “S” displays the companies’ strong commitment to enable the spirit of helping one another in times of calamities and disaster while enhancing volunteerism among employees.
