LUBAO, Pampanga – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said here that as congresswoman, she would “keep watch” on all the projects she has already put in place, particularly in the so-called Subic-Clark- Tarlac economic corridor to ensure their progress.
In the reception building at her new home in Barangay San Nicolas here, the President held a taped interview requested even before last Monday’s polls by a Clark-based television station hosted by Sonny Lopez.
The interview zeroed in on her accomplishments at Clark and Subic freeports, with officials of the freeports also acting as guests.
She said that as congresswoman, she would “keep watch” on developments on projects she had put in place at Subic-Clark-Tarlac economic corridor. She expressed confidence that the area would be the “Ayala of the future but of a different kind.”
The President, who steps down as the country’s chief executive on June 30 and assume her post as congresswoman on the same day, also vowed to continue to promote Clark and Subic to attract more investors.
The Comelec proclaimed the President winner in the congressional race in the second district. Also proclaimed winners include: Lilia Pineda as governor, reelectionist Vice Gov. Joseller Guiao, reelectionists 1st district Rep. Carmelo Lazatin, 4th district Rep. Anna York Bondoc, 3rd district Rep. Aurelio Gonzalez and members of the provincial board.
Press Sec. Crispulo Icban Jr. said the interview at the President’s residence here was the first to be granted by the President to a local network since she announced her congressional candidacy.
This, even as Icban also said that contrary to published reports, the President’s family has not yet started to pack up and move out their personal belongings from Malacanang.
“It’s (President’s term) still one and a half months away. It’s too early,” he said.
