PORAC, Pampanga – Congresswoman-elect Pres. Arroyo has asked environment officials to establish agro-forestry projects for Aetas in remote Barangays Diaz and Villa Maria in this town where she held last Saturday dialogs with the cultural tribal folk.

The President arrived at 9 a.m. in Barangay Diaz which is otherwise accessible only by rough-terrain vehicle. She inspected a new two-classroom elementary building before motoring to hilly Barangays Villa Maria and Sapang Uwak.

This town is part of Pampanga’s second district where the President ran and won overwhelmingly for congresswoman in the elections last May 10.

Apart from instructing Director Ricardo Calderon of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to establish agro-industrial projects for the Aetas, the President also vowed to support more scholarship programs for the tribal youths.

The President looked at ease and jubilant as she mingled with the Aetas before leaving at noon.

She also inspected in Barangay Sapang Uwak the site for a 20-meter bridge to cost P2.5 million from her bridge program funds. The bridge was requested by Aeta leaders during the President visit to this town last October and is slated for completion by the time her presidential term ends on June 30.
