CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Former president Pampanga 2 nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for approving her bill seeking the creation of a campus of the Pampanga State Agricultural University in her district.

The president on Feb. 15 signed House Bill 2625 into now Republic Act No. 11977 which established the Pampanga State Agricultural University-Floridablanca Campus in Floridablanca town.

To be located in a 50-hectare land in the Floridablanca National Agricultural School, the campus will “offer short-term, technical vocational, undergraduate, and graduate courses within its areas of competency and specialization.”

“The PSAU-Floridablanca Campus shall be mandated to undertake research and extension services, and production activities in support of the socio-economic development and to provide progressive leadership in these areas,” RA 11977 also said.

Arroyo said the president.’s “speedy approval” of the PSAU Floridablanca Law underscores his commitment to providing quality higher education to Filipino students as well as improving the lives of Filipino farmers.

“The establishment of PSAU-Floridablanca brings great benefits to the students and farmers of all six towns of my district. Most of my constituents earn a living from agriculture and in-land aquaculture, so I foresee a boom in their incomes when they gain access to the new technologies and research findings, through their children who will study in PSAU- Floridablanca or through the school’s extension services,” the former president said, expressing her constituents’ gratitude to Marcos Jr.

The law will take effect on March 1 or 15 days after its publication. Punto News Team/PCO
