At the recent Spring and Summer ‘09 Edition Philippine Fashion Week, two young designers from Angeles City stood out as they presented their Menswear Collection last October 24, 2008 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Bang Pineda and Frederick Policarpio were among the many designers featured in this twice-a-year event showcasing the best in Philippine fashion. Bang Pineda’s collection is entitled ‘HUE-MAN” —men at work, men at play…they are kids at heart! Colorful, bright, fun, distinct and issues a statement of playing rough need not be unfashionable.
Frederick Policarpio’s collection is entitled “Romancing the Sea”. He combines the basic elements in an inventive, modernized and luxurious approach. Aside from the crisp suits, he also came up with his own designs of shoes and bags to complete his set. Stylized and clean, Frederick’s line is a statement of pure sartorial elegance.
I am proud to see these two designer friends at the top of the fashion heap. They have made strides and moved forward, regardless of the challenges they faced as designers and geographical situations. They are in a truest sense of the word, artists!
