BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A passenger bus of Genesis Transport Services that left its Mariveles terminal for Pasay City got burned at dawn Wednesday allegedly caused by a friction on the brake shoe from its rear left tire while travelling the Roman Expressway in barangay Cabcaben, Mariveles.
Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, said no one from its eight passengers, driver and conductor was hurt.
Reports showed that driver Orlando Gonzales, 43, spotted from his left side mirror that the rear left tire of his bus was on fire. He stopped the bus and told the passengers to alight.
The driver also tried to stop the flame but his fire extinguisher was defective. The bus was totally engulfed by fire with damage placed at P1.5 million.
The incident was reported by a citizen at about 2:30 a.m. to the police station in Batangas Dos, another Mariveles barangay some kilometers away from Cabcaben.
A team from the police and the Bureau of Fire Protection in Mariveles arrived at the area but the bus was already totally gutted by the blaze.
