Wearing black T-shirt, denim pants and slippers, Geisler looked relaxed as he was escorted by the police, after his brother-in-law pursued charges of grave threat, alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of deadly weapon against him. He was initially jailed at Police Station 3 here.
As Geisler entered the jail under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), city officials were inaugurating a P4.8-million extension of the district jail designed for only 273 inmates but now accommodates over 5,000 detainees.
City engineer Donato Dizon said the jail extension consisted of 14 container vans each 40 feet long. Three vans were connected and made into one cell to accommodate 108 inmates each, while two of the vans were converted into toilet and shower rooms, he added.
Angeles City government spokesperson Jay Pelayo III said the jail extension had nothing to do with Geisler since it was finished even before the incident that led to the actor’s arrest.
Jail officials, however, could not say whether Geisler would be among those to be committed to the jail extension.
Geisler was arrested Monday last week after his brother -in-law Michael Robin Morales claimed the actor, under the influence of alcohol, allegedly threatened to kill with a kitchen knife in his house in Barangay Pulong Maragul in this city.
Before his arrest, Geisler posted in his Instagram account his photos showing bruises on his face, as he claimed he had been beaten up by his brother-in-law over argument on finances.
