BALANGA City- Bataan Gov. Albert S. Garcia over the weekend disclaimed placing his Priority Development Assistance Fund while still congressman with the Department of Transportation and Communications as published in some major dailies.
He described the report as erroneous and needed to be re-checked. “Maling-mali ang mga data na inilabas,” the former three-term congressman of Bataan’s second district said.
Newspaper reports said that Garcia and a Rep. Rene Velarde have combined allocations with DOTC of P2.999 million for 30 sets of computers.
“Never na nag-aalocate ako ng pondo sa DOTC o sa ano mang major departments sapagka’t ang pinupuntahan ng Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) ko ay para sa scholarship program at tulong sa mga local government units,” Garcia said.
The young Garcia and the provincial government headed by his father, then Gov. Enrique Garcia, have 12,000 college scholars funded for P6,000 each per semester.
The elder Garcia is now the congressman of the second district.
The new governor welcomed the investigation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation, the Senate and the House of Representatives on the alleged PDAF scam.
“Public funds ito, government funds na dapat mapunta sa taong bayan kaya mabuting maimbestigahan para hindi na maulit ang ganitong isyu,” the young Garcia said.
