MABALACAT CITY— The chief executive of this city, bringing a total of P2.7 million relief goods including P1 million cash donation, motored Tuesday to Lemery, Batangas to help victims of the Taal Volcano eruption.
Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo led the team that left here early morning Tuesday along with city administrator Atty. Emmanuel Ignacio and chief of staff Rosan Paquia.
The city government’s “MCG Oplan Taal” was also be joined by medical teams, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office personnel, PNP and social workers.
Among the relief goods they are bringing are so called “dignity kits” and medicines to help the affected residents of Lemery.
According to the Garbo, Mabalacat City has adopted Lemery, Batangas as the primary town beneficiary.
Meantime, Ignacio said the city government has allotted a “standby fund” of P5 million to assist the victims of Taal Volcano.
Ignacio added that “MCG Oplan Taal “is an opportunity for the city to return the help and support given to Pampanga when it was devastated by disasters, particularly the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991.
“We were one of the hardest hit areas during the Mt. Pinatubo Eruption. People from all over the country helped us recover and stand again. It’s our turn to give back,” he added.
