Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo led the 2nd quarter social pension program for adolescent mothers and their children (SPPAMC) on Monday.

A total of 100 adolescent mothers received Php3,000 each as part of the conditional social pension program, which aims to help young mothers have a healthy and responsible motherhood.

The program, which is implemented by the city’s Population, Gender and Development Office, also offers the adolescent mothers other programs such as scholarships, livelihood, and employment referral programs after graduating from SPPAMC.

Mayor Garbo emphasized the importance of providing support to adolescent mothers, who often face numerous challenges in raising their children. He cited the city’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its constituents, particularly the most vulnerable members of society.

“Let me also reiterate the importance of the role of parents, guardians and barangay officials in closely monitoring our adolescents in order to avoid spike up of teenage pregnancy,” said Garbo.

The social pension program is part of the city’s efforts to promote gender equality and empowerment, which is one of the key components of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the local government for the assistance they received. They shared that the program has helped them provide for their children’s basic needs and has given them the opportunity to pursue their dreams for their families.

The city government of Mabalacat continues to implement various programs and initiatives that aim to improve the quality of life of its residents. The SPPAMC is just one of the many programs that the local government has put in place to help its constituents, particularly those who are most in need.
