OLONGAPO CITY – Some 100 tricycle drivers from Zone 1, 2, 3, and 4 underwent a defensive driving seminar held at Rizal Triangle, here on Jan. 11.
The activity is mandated by City Ordinance No. 58, Series 2010 requiring jeepney and tricycle drivers to undergo a yearly defensive driving seminar aimed to remind drivers of traffic rules and regulations.
Officer Gerardo Austria, instructor of Olongapo Traffic Management and Public Safety (OTMPS) provided the lectures that covered the importance of defensive driving, the dangers of aggressive driving, speed limits and traffic signs, road courtesy, and avoiding accidents on the road, among others.
Former city mayor and current Bases Conversion and Development Authority director Rolen Paulino, Sr. in his message reminded the drivers: “Alam n’yo ba na ang mga driver ng Olongapo ang isa sa mga ipinagmamalaki nating mga disiplinadong driver? Ngiti sa labi sa pasahero – sapat na ‘yun para maipakita natin ang respeto sa kanila at maihahatid natin sa kanilang pupuntahan.”
