SUBIC BAY FREEPORT  —  Delegates from eight Asian countries joined the 16th East and Southeast Asian Network (ESEANet) Conference yesterday at the Subic Bay Exhibition Center (SBEC), Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) with the theme “Cities in Search of Ideal Communities.”

Olongapo City is this year’s host to the conference in coordination with the Local Government Development Foundation (LOGODEF) and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Foundation).

LOGODEF is a Manila-based non-stock, non-profit organization established on March 21, 1989 for the purpose of providing professional services to local governments in support of central government efforts to promote the continuing development of Philippine local authorities. The Foundation is one of the major institutional partner of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) in strengthening local political institutions in the Philippines.

The primary objective of the Network is the promotion of innovations in local government management in the spirit of the New Public Management. Consequently, the Network also seeks to actively engage in the promotion of best practices through continued information exchange and replication mechanisms among network member countries.

In line with this event, Olongapo City mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. urged all Olongapeños to cooperate and make the city a model city for the international participants.

Gordon said, “All eyes of the international community will be on us.  Let’s make this conference a success,  kaya dapat pag-igihin pa natin ang ating mga gawain para maging matagumpay ang ESEA conference.”

“Magprepare tayo, let us put our best foot forward, let’s show the international community kung paano ang performance natin sa pagho-host ng event na ito. He also asked the leaders of the 17 barangays here to prepare for the delegates city tour,” Gordon added.
