GAPAN CITY – The city government has allocated aninitial fund of P150 million for the procurement of vaccine against the coronavirus disease, Mayor Emerson Pascual said Thursday.
Pascual said the funding for the vaccine was approved by the sangguniang panlungsod on Wednesday.
“Kung kakakapusin pa, magdadagdag pa po kami,” he added.
In a video address, Pascual said the anti-Covid vaccination program intends to benefit every resident of this city.
“Bakit napagkaisahan po namin yan? Dahil ayaw po namin na may taga-Gapan na magkakasakit o mamamatay dahil sa Covid-19,” the mayor said.
There was no immediate information as to the schedule of procurement but Vice Mayor Dodong Bautista said they had actually planned the vaccination program wayback in October last year.
“Ngayon lang in-announce dahil hinintay natin yung presyo ng bakuna,” Bautista said.
Pascual assured the residents they will only procure vaccines that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Frontliners and senior citizens make the priority targets for vaccination.
