DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — The provincial government of Bataan in partnership with internet service provider Converge and Probus Ventures, Inc. launched here Monday its pilot project of providing fiber to the home (FTTH) free internet for education.

Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III recalled that he had discussed the project about a year ago with Converge co-founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy but then he was still thinking on how it would materialize.

“Makasaysayan ang araw na ito dahil ngayon ay totoo na. Ang bawat tahanan ngmga mag-aaral sa Bataan ay paunti-unting mabibigyan na ng fiber to the home internet connection,” the governor said.

The launching took place at the Pagalanggang National High School in Dinalupihan where the houses of 50 senior high school students of a total 500 students targeted for the project in Barangay Pagalanggang were already installed with modem and fiber cable.

Garcia said that in the next few weeks, the remaining targeted houses in the pilot area will be connected with FTTH free internet connection.

He said that in the whole province, more than 100,000 students and 6,000 facultymembers will benefit from the program.

The governor credited the realization of the project to Converge and Probus Ventures CEOs Dennis Uy and Mar Santos and local and provincial officials led by Partylist Pusong Pinoy Rep. Jett Nisay, 3rd District Rep. Maria Angela Garcia, 2nd District Rep. Albert Garcia, 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia and Dinalupihan Mayor Tong Santos.
