Dingalan, Aurora is one of the areas severely affected when Typhoon Ulysses hit last month. Many lost their homes and were displaced. Intense rains and strong winds destroyed almost all of the fishing boats, and fishermen lost their livelihood.
Meanwhile, in Camarines Sur, some 40,000 residents have been displaced from their homes because of flash floods and landslides that resulted from the typhoon.
Employees of the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital (JBLMRH) felt the need to reach out and decided to give back by helping the victims devastated by the typhoon. The hospital workers pooled their resources and were able to raise P65,000.
On behalf of JBLMRH, Dr. Alfonso Danac, chief of medical and professional staff, turned over the funds raised by the employees to Pamisaupan Kampangan, an NGO that is in collaboration with Women’s Health Advocate and PSG C.A.R.E.S (Philippine Society of Gastroenterology COVID-19 Advisory Recommendations for Enhanced Safety).
Of the amount raised, P30,000 will be given to the fishermen of Dingalan, Aurora to help them build new boats and rebuild their homes, while P35,000 will be allocated for typhoon Ulysses victims in Camarines Sur.
