Frontliner dies, 2 PUIs recover

CABANATUAN CITY – Mixed emotions reign here as a frontliner died due to Covid-19 even as two patients under investigation were declared “fully recovered” in Nueva Ecija.

Fr. Arnold Abelardo, spokesperson of the Nueva Ecija Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19 said the death of Patient #16 was “the first death of a positive case” in the province.

Patient #16, a 44-year- old male nurse died at around 1:14 a.m. Wednesday. A resident of Gen. Natividad town, he was admitted at the Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center last March 21.

Abelardo reiterated appeal to the public to respect theprivacy of patients. “Please help us respect the patient and family as they mourn the passing of their loved one,” he said.

“DOH is doing its best on contact tracing in an orderly and respectful way,” he said, reiterating that the provincial task force does not confirm name of patient.

“Paalam…sa muling pagkikita…dun tayo mag-ride ng motor,” said Darrel Morales, the deceased’s cycling body in a social media post as he thanked all frontliners.

Last night, Mayor Anita Arocena of Gen. Natividad announced through social media that Patient 519, a 19-year-old resident of her town has fully recovered and has been discharged from PJGMRMC.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Cabanatuan City Information and Tourism Office disclosed that the city’s first confirmed Covid-19 case  has fully recovered.
